FSO Oct Classical Concert

October 10, 2009
Event to be held at The Whiting

Presented By:Flint Institute of Music
When in Rome …
Hark! The trumpets sound our arrival at the threshold of the Eternal City – Rome! – the city born of legend and myth. The Flint Symphony Orchestra begins our tour with four celebrated compositions as each note propels us through this fabled empire and sends our imaginations flying into history. The FSO begins with Rossini’s La gazza ladra, a melodrama with a triumphant finale, followed by the three movements of Paganini’s second violin concerto. Then, Respighi’s Gli Ucelli, a suite for small orchestra inspired by birdsong, graces this presentation of music. The performance ends with a grandiose work for large orchestra, depicting the festivals of Rome: Respighi’s Feste romane.
