It's a Wonderful Life

December 4-19, 2009
Event to be held at Elgood Theater

IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE

Would you be willing to sacrifice your ambitions to honor notions of family obligation and civic duty?

For the good of his neighbors in his hometown, George Bailey spends his entire life selflessly giving up his dreams of going places and doing great things. His story is a heartfelt illustration of the difference one person can make in rekindling community pride and hope.

Bedford Falls. Christmas Eve, 1945. Having fallen victim to the plot of an evil millionaire, the despondent George Bailey realizes he is worth more dead than alive. Wishing he had never been born, George stands on a bridge contemplating taking his own life. When Clarence, his guardian angel, appears to convince him otherwise, George is given a revealing look at how different things would have been had he never lived. He learns how his life-long generosity has continually touched the lives of his family, his friends and the citizens of Bedford Falls. With its themes of civic responsibility and spiritual redemption, this perennial story takes on renewed relevance during our current economic challenges by examining what we value most.

A conversation with the creative team will follow each performance.
