The Man Who Planted Trees

April 23-May 1, 2010
Event to be held at Elgood Theater

THE MAN WHO PLANTED TREES

Are you willing to do the right thing when there is no benefit to you?

Southern France. 1910. A shepherd heals the blight of his land by planting one tree at a time. As the trees grow and people return, his simple action restores life to a barren place while instilling hope in the people.

Tree by tree, a poor shepherd plants a thriving forest, thereby saving an abandoned valley. The impact of his action grows with each small seed he plants. Day by day the shepherd faithfully keeps his promise while expecting no reward or acknowledgement. Along the way he inspires those around him including a young hiker intrigued by the shepherd’s commitment. This parable provides a striking illustration of the old adage: A person’s life is not measured by how good it was but by how much good it brought others.

A conversation with the creative team will follow each performance.
